Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund is an Indian asset management company, formally incorporated as Baroda BNP Paribas Asset Management India Private Limited, resulting from the 2022 merger of Baroda Asset Management India Limited (sponsored by Bank of Baroda) and BNP Paribas Asset Management India Private Limited (the Indian operations of BNP Paribas Asset Management). As of March 2024, the combined entity managed assets of approximately Rs 25,000–30,000 crore.

Background

Bank of Baroda has operated a mutual fund business in India since 1992, making it one of the original public sector bank AMCs. BNP Paribas Asset Management has had Indian mutual fund operations since the early 2000s through various partnerships. The merger of the two separate AMCs into a single joint venture entity in 2022 was approved by SEBI and the Competition Commission of India.

Post-merger, Bank of Baroda and BNP Paribas Asset Management share control of the combined AMC. The combined entity has larger AUM and scheme diversity than either predecessor.

  • Baroda BNP Paribas Business Cycle Fund: Cyclical rotation strategy.
  • Full debt and hybrid range.

Co-sponsors: Bank of Baroda (public sector bank, Government of India owned) and BNP Paribas Asset Management Holding (a subsidiary of BNP Paribas Group, Paris). The trustee entity is Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund Trustee Company Private Limited.

Distribution and operations

Bank of Baroda’s branch network (approximately 8,500 branches) provides strong domestic distribution. BNP Paribas’s institutional relationships contribute international and HNI distribution channels.

Baroda BNP Paribas Asset Management India Private Limited holds a valid SEBI registration. The merger was conducted with full regulatory approvals. No enforcement actions as of 2024.
