How to add scrips to the Kite marketwatch
The Kite marketwatch is the price-streaming panel through which most Zerodha retail flows route. This guide walks through adding any tradable instrument, equity scrip, F&O contract, currency pair, commodity, ETF, or sovereign gold bond, to a Kite marketwatch on both Kite web and the Kite mobile app .

Step-by-step procedure
Follow the six steps in the procedure infobox above. The expanded notes below cover the search syntax for each segment and the small UX differences between Kite web and the Kite app.
Search syntax by segment
| Segment | What to type | Example |
|---|---|---|
| NSE equity | Company name or NSE symbol | RELIANCE, INFY |
| BSE equity | BSE name or scrip code | RELIANCE BSE, 500325 |
| NSE F&O futures | Underlying + expiry month | NIFTY 23MAY FUT |
| NSE F&O options | Underlying + expiry + strike + CE/PE | NIFTY 23MAY 22000 CE |
| MCX commodity | Commodity + contract month | GOLD JUNE, CRUDEOIL |
| Currency | Currency pair + expiry | USDINR 23MAY FUT |
| ETF | ETF name or symbol | NIFTYBEES, GOLDBEES |
| G-sec / SDL | ISIN or symbol | 91D250823, GS2030 |
The dropdown filters results live as you type. Each result row carries the exchange tag (NSE / BSE / NFO / CDS / MCX) so the selection is unambiguous.
Web versus app: small UX differences
On Kite web , the search dropdown shows up to 12 matches with LTP. On the Kite app , the dropdown is paginated; swipe up to load more matches. The app also lets you long-press a search result to add it to a different watchlist without first switching the active tab.
Reordering, removing, and capacity
To remove a scrip, hover the row on Kite web and click the x icon. On the app, long-press and tap Remove. To reorder, drag and drop on web; long-press and drag on the app.
The current capacity is 250 instruments per watchlist on Kite web and 50 on the older Kite app build. Zerodha rolled the limit out in two phases; if the app caps at 50, update to the latest app build.
