How to recover a forgotten CDSL T-PIN on Zerodha
A forgotten CDSL T-PIN is a common issue when a Zerodha client tries to sell CDSL-held shares and cannot complete the eDIS T-PIN + OTP flow . The recovery is straightforward via CDSL myeasi .

Step-by-step procedure
Six steps per the procedure infobox. The notes below cover the online flow, offline alternatives, and security points.
Online flow via CDSL myeasi
- Visit web.cdslindia.com/myeasi .
- Click “Forgot password / T-PIN” link.
- Enter:
- 16-digit BO ID (demat number).
- PAN.
- CDSL sends OTP to your registered mobile.
- Enter OTP to verify.
- New T-PIN is generated and sent to your mobile and email.
- Use the new T-PIN immediately for your sell order.
Verify the new T-PIN works
Test with a small sell order to ensure the new T-PIN is working:
- Place a small sell on Kite.
- Enter the new T-PIN in the eDIS flow.
- Confirm OTP.
- Verify the order processes.
If it works, save the T-PIN securely (offline notes; never plain-text on mobile).
Offline alternative
If the online flow fails (e.g., registered mobile is unavailable):
- Contact Zerodha Support via Console > Support.
- Provide your demat number and verify identity.
- Zerodha coordinates with CDSL to facilitate T-PIN reset.
- Resolution typically takes 1-2 working days.
Through Zerodha support (sometimes faster)
Zerodha can sometimes initiate the T-PIN recovery on the user’s behalf:
- Submit a ticket via Console > Support > Demat-related.
- Zerodha verifies your identity and submits to CDSL.
- CDSL processes and sends new T-PIN.
This path is useful when the registered mobile or email is the issue.
Security after recovery
After regeneration:
- Update registered mobile / email with CDSL if they were the cause of the issue.
- Note new T-PIN in a secure location.
- Never share T-PIN with anyone, including support staff (Zerodha and CDSL never ask for it).
- Verify the recovery channel (only CDSL myeasi or verified Zerodha support).
Phishing risk
Beware of phishing during T-PIN recovery:
- Only use web.cdslindia.com or verified Zerodha pathways.
- Don’t enter T-PIN on any site that isn’t CDSL myeasi.
- Be suspicious of “support agents” calling about T-PIN; legitimate flows are user-initiated.
