Step-by-step procedure

Six steps per the procedure infobox. The notes below cover the online flow, offline alternatives, and security points.

Online flow via CDSL myeasi

  1. Visit web.cdslindia.com/myeasi .
  2. Click “Forgot password / T-PIN” link.
  3. Enter:
    • 16-digit BO ID (demat number).
    • PAN.
  4. CDSL sends OTP to your registered mobile.
  5. Enter OTP to verify.
  6. New T-PIN is generated and sent to your mobile and email.
  7. Use the new T-PIN immediately for your sell order.

Verify the new T-PIN works

Test with a small sell order to ensure the new T-PIN is working:

  1. Place a small sell on Kite.
  2. Enter the new T-PIN in the eDIS flow.
  3. Confirm OTP.
  4. Verify the order processes.

If it works, save the T-PIN securely (offline notes; never plain-text on mobile).

Offline alternative

If the online flow fails (e.g., registered mobile is unavailable):

  1. Contact Zerodha Support via Console > Support.
  2. Provide your demat number and verify identity.
  3. Zerodha coordinates with CDSL to facilitate T-PIN reset.
  4. Resolution typically takes 1-2 working days.

Through Zerodha support (sometimes faster)

Zerodha can sometimes initiate the T-PIN recovery on the user’s behalf:

  • Submit a ticket via Console > Support > Demat-related.
  • Zerodha verifies your identity and submits to CDSL.
  • CDSL processes and sends new T-PIN.

This path is useful when the registered mobile or email is the issue.

Security after recovery

After regeneration:

  • Update registered mobile / email with CDSL if they were the cause of the issue.
  • Note new T-PIN in a secure location.
  • Never share T-PIN with anyone, including support staff (Zerodha and CDSL never ask for it).
  • Verify the recovery channel (only CDSL myeasi or verified Zerodha support).

Phishing risk

Beware of phishing during T-PIN recovery:

  • Only use web.cdslindia.com or verified Zerodha pathways.
  • Don’t enter T-PIN on any site that isn’t CDSL myeasi.
  • Be suspicious of “support agents” calling about T-PIN; legitimate flows are user-initiated.
