How to change your mobile number on Zerodha
Your registered mobile number at Zerodha is the primary channel for two-factor authentication (2FA) on Kite (login OTP), CDSL TPIN-based OTPs for delivery instructions, and transactional SMS alerts. Keeping it current is essential for account security. This guide explains how to update the registered mobile number.
Step 1: Log in to Zerodha Console
Open Zerodha Console and log in. Navigate to Profile (top-right profile icon or the side menu). Under the profile section, review available account modification options.
As of 2025, Zerodha provides an online mobile number change flow for accounts where the Aadhaar-linked mobile is also the registered mobile (i.e., the current mobile number is linked to Aadhaar). If the current mobile is not Aadhaar-linked, the process may require a physical form.
Step 2: Initiate the mobile number change
Online method (Aadhaar-OTP route):
- In Console, navigate to Profile > Personal details.
- Find the mobile number field and click the edit or change option.
- Enter your new mobile number.
- Zerodha sends an OTP to the Aadhaar-linked mobile (which must be accessible) for identity verification.
- Enter the OTP to confirm.
- Zerodha may additionally send a confirmation to the old mobile number.
Offline method (if online change is not available):
- Download the “Change of Details” form from support.zerodha.com.
- Fill in your Client ID, PAN, current mobile number, and the new mobile number.
- Sign the form.
- Email the scanned signed form to modifications@zerodha.com or through the support ticket system from the registered email address.
- Zerodha support may call the registered email to confirm the request.
Step 3: Verify the new mobile number
Regardless of the method used, Zerodha will send an OTP to the new mobile number to confirm that you own it. Enter the OTP when prompted. This step confirms the new number is active and in your possession.
Step 4: Await update propagation
Once Zerodha updates the mobile number in its internal records:
- Zerodha Kite login: Login OTPs and trade confirmation SMSs will be delivered to the new number within 1–2 business days.
- CDSL Easiest: Your CDSL Easiest account uses the mobile number registered on your CDSL BO account. CDSL OTPs for delivery instructions will be routed to the new number after Zerodha propagates the update to CDSL. This typically takes 3–5 business days.
- KRA (CAMS KRA or others): Your central KYC record at the relevant KRA will be updated. Subsequent broker KYC checks will see the new number.
Verify the update in Console under Profile after 5 business days. If the old number is still showing after 7 business days, raise a follow-up support ticket.
Step 5: Update Easiest registration if needed
If you use CDSL Easiest directly (for off-market transfers), log in to easiest.cdsl.com after the CDSL update and verify that OTPs are being sent to the new number. If Easiest still shows the old number, contact CDSL at 1800-200-5533 or submit a correction request through Zerodha support.
Two-factor authentication considerations
After the mobile number change, your Zerodha Kite login requires a TOTP (time-based OTP) from the authenticator app, or an SMS OTP on the new number. If you use the Zerodha authenticator app (or Google Authenticator) for login, it is linked to the account regardless of mobile number and is not affected by the change. If you relied on SMS OTP for login, ensure the new number is receiving Zerodha OTPs before logging out of all sessions.
