How to contact a Zerodha representative to open an account
Zerodha is a SEBI-registered stockbroker (SEBI registration INZ000031633) that opens accounts mainly through a self-serve online flow rather than a relationship-manager model. This guide is for the reader who wants a person on the other end: the new-account desk numbers, the support ticket, the branch and partner network, and an honest account of what a representative can and cannot do for you. It corrects a common assumption first, because Zerodha does have physical offices, even though it is a discount broker without per-client dealers.
The shortest path to an open account at Zerodha is usually no representative at all. With an Aadhaar linked to your mobile number, the online flow runs the eKYC , the esign, and the in-person verification end to end, and the account is typically open the same working day. A representative matters when that flow stalls, when you need the offline paper route , or when a rejection needs a human to read the file.
Conflict-of-interest disclosure. This guide is published by the WebNotes Editorial Team for informational purposes and is written independently. WebNotes operates a Zerodha account-opening referral programme, disclosed on the pages that carry the referral link; this guide does not carry it and earns no referral commission from the procedure described here.
Step-by-step procedure
The numbered Procedure infobox near the top of this page is the canonical sequence. The H3 sections below expand each route with the exact numbers, hours, and limits.
1. Try the self-serve online flow first
A representative cannot open the account faster than you can. The online application at zerodha.com pulls your KYC from DigiLocker after an Aadhaar OTP, captures your photo and signature, runs the penny-drop bank check, and records the in-person verification , all without a phone call. With a mobile-linked Aadhaar the whole sequence often finishes the same working day. Reach for a representative only when something in this flow does not work, not as the default.
2. Call the new-account desk for guidance
Zerodha runs a dedicated new-account desk, separate from its general client-support lines. The published numbers are 080 4719 2020 and 080 7117 5337, staffed Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am to 2:00 pm IST (Zerodha contact page, as of 20 June 2026). Use these when you need the offline form, want to confirm a document, or are deciding between the online and offline routes. The general support numbers 080 4718 1888, 080 4718 1999, and 080 4588 8887 are for existing clients, so the new-account desk is the correct first call for opening.
3. Create an account-opening support ticket
Some problems cannot be settled on a call: a PAN verification failure , an application on hold , or a stuck KYC needs the team to open your file. Sign in at support.zerodha.com, choose the account-opening category, and raise a ticket with the exact error message and your application reference. A ticket gives you a written trail and routes the query to the team that can read the back-end status, which a phone agent often cannot do live. If you are calling from a number not yet on file, the unregistered-number support route explains how to get verified.
4. Visit a branch or partner office if you need in-person help
Zerodha is a discount broker, so it does not assign a personal dealer to place your trades. It does, though, run a physical network: the contact page lists 75-plus branches and partner offices across India and a “locate an office in your city” finder (Zerodha contact page, as of 20 June 2026). Branch and partner staff help you fill the form, check your originals, and answer questions face to face. Carry your original PAN, one address proof, and a bank proof. The partner network is also how an authorised person assists in regions without a Zerodha-owned branch. Note the two Bengaluru addresses are different: the registered office sits at #153/154, 4th Cross, Dollars Colony, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Bengaluru 560078, while signed offline forms go to the customer support centre at JP Nagar 4th Phase, Bengaluru 560076.
5. Complete in-person verification and submit
A representative explains every step, but the account holder performs the two acts that cannot be delegated: the in-person verification and the signature. Online, you record the IPV by holding the four-digit OTP to your device camera at signup.zerodha.com/ipv. Offline, you affix the photo, sign across it, and courier the forms yourself. No desk agent, branch staffer, or partner can sign on your behalf, because SEBI’s KYC rules require a real, identifiable applicant to authenticate the file.
What a Zerodha representative can and cannot do
Setting expectations matters more here than at a full-service broker. A representative at Zerodha is a guide, not a dealer.
| Task | Representative does it | You do it |
|---|---|---|
| Explain the online vs offline choice | Yes | |
| Send the offline form and sample | Yes | |
| Check documents before you courier | Yes | |
| Read the back-end status of a stuck file | Yes, via ticket | |
| Sign the application | Yes | |
| Complete in-person verification | Yes | |
| Place or manage trades | Not offered | Yes, you trade yourself |
The last row is the structural point. Zerodha’s discount-broking model prices a flat brokerage precisely because there is no per-client dealer. A representative who offered to trade for you would be outside Zerodha’s model and a red flag for a scam .
When the offline route needs the desk
The offline paper form is the one case where the new-account desk is close to mandatory, because the desk sends the form and reviews your soft copies before you spend on courier. The offline opening guide and the offline document checklist lay out the set; the contact desk is how you get the form and the email review address. This route is for the reader without a mobile-linked Aadhaar , and the desk confirms it is the right path before you commit to posting originals.
