How-to Marketwatch UI Kite

How to fix texts or numbers overlapping on the Kite marketwatch

From WebNotes, a public knowledge base. Last updated . Reading time ~3 min.

Overlapping text or numbers on the Kite marketwatch is almost always a client-side rendering issue, not a Kite server issue. This guide walks through the diagnostic in order of frequency.

Step-by-step procedure

Six steps per the procedure infobox. The notes below cover the most common causes on web and on the app.

Cause 1: browser zoom not at 100%

Kite web is laid out for 100% browser zoom. If you have zoomed in (Ctrl+= / Cmd+=) or zoomed out (Ctrl+- / Cmd+-), the marketwatch column widths can clash, producing visible overlap.

Reset zoom: press Ctrl+0 (Cmd+0 on Mac).

Cause 2: OS-level font scaling

Windows and macOS allow OS-level font scaling (125%, 150%, etc.) for users with vision-related needs. Kite web does not always re-layout to accommodate this. Set OS scaling to 100% for the cleanest layout, or use Kite app instead.

Cause 3: stale CSS in browser cache

A partial Kite asset update can leave the browser caching old CSS while serving new HTML. Hard-refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R / Cmd+Shift+R) forces re-download.

Cause 4: browser extension injecting CSS

Some extensions (dark-mode forcers, accessibility tools, custom-CSS injectors) inject styles that conflict with Kite’s layout. Test in incognito / private window to confirm.

Cause 5: older Kite app build

If overlap appears on the mobile app and not on web, the cause is usually a stale app build. Update via Play Store / App Store. See also: How to update the Kite app for new marketwatch features .

Cause 6: density-toggle artefact

The redesigned marketwatch supports compact vs expanded density. Toggling between them sometimes leaves UI state half-applied until next refresh. Refresh after toggling.

Cause 7: small screen on Kite web

Kite web is laid out for desktop. On a narrow window (less than 1280px wide), column overlap can appear. Maximise the window or use the Kite mobile app for narrow screens.
