How to update the Kite app for new marketwatch features

Several Kite marketwatch features (the 250-instrument cap, the redesigned overview, Notes, pin) roll out via app updates. Users on older builds will not see these features even if their account is fully active. This guide is the simple update path.

Why staged rollouts can delay features

Zerodha typically rolls out new builds to a percentage of the user base first (10%, 50%, 100%). If your app does not show Update even after a feature is announced, your account may not yet be in the rollout cohort. Wait 24-48 hours or sign up for the Beta channel on Play Store.

Beta channel for Android

To opt in to the Beta channel:

  1. Open the Kite app listing on Play Store.
  2. Scroll to the Join the beta section.
  3. Tap Join.
  4. The next available beta build will install via the regular Update flow.

iOS uses TestFlight for beta distribution; Zerodha does not currently publish a public TestFlight channel.

APK side-load path (Android only)

Zerodha does not officially publish APKs outside Play Store. Avoid third-party APK mirrors; they are an attack vector for credential theft. If Play Store is unavailable on your device (e.g., older Android, region restriction), use Kite web in the browser instead.

Build version verification

After update, verify the build number:

  1. Open Kite.
  2. Tap your profile icon.
  3. About > Build number.

Cross-check against the latest release notes on the Zerodha Support site. If you remain on an older build despite update attempts, contact Zerodha support with the build number.
