The Nippon India Mutual Fund direct portal at nipponindiamf.com is the AMC-operated investment platform for direct plan investments in schemes managed by Nippon Life India Asset Management Limited (Nippon AMC), formerly known as Reliance Mutual Fund and later Nippon India Mutual Fund following Nippon Life Insurance Company’s acquisition of a majority stake from the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group. Nippon AMC is listed on NSE and BSE (NSE: NAM-INDIA), making it another of the publicly traded AMCs in India.

Nippon AMC manages a broad range of equity, debt, liquid, and passive (ETF and index fund) schemes. The fund house is particularly notable for its range of passively managed products including Nippon India ETFs across multiple equity and debt indices.

Background and renaming

Reliance Mutual Fund was one of India’s largest AMCs by AUM through the 2000s and 2010s, managed under the Reliance Capital umbrella. Nippon Life Insurance Company of Japan progressively acquired equity in the AMC entity, eventually reaching majority ownership. Following the complete exit of Reliance Capital, the AMC was rebranded as Nippon India Mutual Fund in 2019. The rebranding was accompanied by a change in investment culture and management emphasis.
