PGIM India Mutual Fund

PGIM India Mutual Fund is an Indian asset management company, formally incorporated as PGIM India Asset Management Private Limited, and the Indian operations of PGIM, the global investment management business of Prudential Financial Inc. (Newark, New Jersey, USA). The fund house operates as the successor to Pramerica Mutual Fund (historical), having rebranded in 2020 when Prudential Financial aligned its global asset management operations under the unified PGIM brand.

As of March 2024, PGIM India AMC managed assets of approximately Rs 25,000–30,000 crore, placing it in the smaller-to-mid bracket of Indian AMCs. The fund house is entirely owned by PGIM with no domestic co-sponsor.

History

PGIM India’s predecessor, Pramerica Mutual Fund, commenced operations in India in 2010. For the detailed earlier history, see Pramerica Mutual Fund (historical).

The rebranding from Pramerica to PGIM India occurred in 2020, aligning the Indian entity with PGIM’s global brand identity. PGIM (previously Prudential Investment Management) manages approximately USD 1.3 trillion globally, with significant fixed income, equity, and alternative investment capabilities.

PGIM India AMC offers equity, debt, and hybrid schemes:

  • PGIM India Midcap Opportunities Fund: The most widely tracked scheme; among the top-performing mid cap funds over 5-year and 10-year periods.
  • PGIM India Flexi Cap Fund: Multi-capitalisation mandate.

Investment philosophy

PGIM India’s equity investment approach is fundamental with a growth orientation. The midcap fund, in particular, has been managed with a focus on identifying mid-sized businesses with strong earnings growth potential before they migrate to the large cap universe.

PGIM Real Estate Private Equity India Private Limited (or a designated PGIM entity) serves as sponsor. The trustee entity is PGIM India Mutual Fund Trustee Company Private Limited.
