The post-market closing session on NSE / BSE runs from approximately 15:40 to 16:00 IST. During this window, orders can be placed at the day’s closing price only.

When used

Volume

Volume in the post-market session is much smaller than the regular session. Most retail traders don’t participate.

On Zerodha Kite

Orders placed via standard Kite order ticket; the system routes based on time. After 15:40, your buy / sell becomes a closing-price-only order.
