Established on 12 April 1992 under the &lt;strong&gt;Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992&lt;/strong&gt; (Act No. 15 of 1992), the regulator is headquartered in Mumbai and exercises jurisdiction over stock exchanges, listed companies, market intermediaries, collective investment schemes, and institutional investors across the country.
