It was built on the NEST (Now Executing Smarter Trades) platform developed by OMNESYS Technologies Private Limited, a technology company that supplied trading terminal software to multiple Indian stockbrokers and which was subsequently acquired by NSE IT (a subsidiary of the National Stock Exchange). Zerodha Trader was the primary order-entry interface for Zerodha clients from 2010 until it was progressively replaced by the Pi desktop terminal and then the browser-based Kite platform over the period 2014 to 2018.
