Career background

Before joining Zerodha AMC, Vishal Jain spent over two decades in the Indian ETF / passive investing industry, including leadership roles at major fund houses overseeing their ETF businesses. He was an early proponent of index-based and ETF investing in India when the category was nascent.

Strategy at Zerodha AMC

Under his leadership, Zerodha Fund House has launched:

  • Index funds tracking Nifty 100 and Nifty LargeMidcap 250.
  • ETFs for gold, silver, and 1-day liquid (LIQUIDCASE).
  • An ELSS scheme structured around a passive index.
  • A multi-asset Fund of Fund.

The unifying thesis: passive products with very low TER, structured for self-directed investors using Zerodha’s distribution.

Public-facing communication

Vishal Jain frequently writes / speaks at Indian investing conferences and on Zerodha’s blog about:

  • Why passive investing works for Indian retail.
  • Cost matters; TER compounds.
  • The role of ETFs in idle-cash parking and collateral.
