Where to send Zerodha account opening documents
This guide answers one narrow question for the offline Zerodha applicant: where, and how, to send the signed account opening documents so the file is received, not misrouted or bounced. The offline route is the path you take when the online eKYC cannot run, and it ends with a physical packet travelling to Bengaluru. Posting it to the wrong address, or before the email pre-check, is the most common self-inflicted delay, so the sequence below front-loads both.
The single fact most readers come for is the address. Zerodha accepts signed offline forms at its customer support centre, which carries a different pin code from its registered office. Send to the support centre, do the email review first, self-attest every copy, and track the courier. The rest of this guide expands each of those into the detail that keeps a file from bouncing.
Conflict-of-interest disclosure. This guide is published by the WebNotes Editorial Team for informational purposes and is written independently. WebNotes operates a Zerodha account-opening referral programme, disclosed on the pages that carry the referral link; this guide does not carry it and earns no referral commission from the procedure described here.
Step-by-step procedure
The numbered Procedure infobox near the top of this page is the canonical sequence. The H3 sections below add the address, the self-attestation rule, the enclosure list, and the tracking detail.
1. Complete the email pre-check
Do not courier first. Zerodha reviews the soft copies by email before the originals travel, so a blank field or an unclear scan is caught while it is still cheap to fix. Scan the filled, signed forms and the self-attested supporting copies, email them to the account-opening desk address, and wait for the team to confirm or request corrections. Make every fix on the soft copy, then re-send if asked. The offline opening guide covers how to obtain the form and the review address from the support site.
2. Self-attest every photocopy
Self-attestation is a signature across each photocopy in your own hand, ideally dated, confirming the copy is true to the original. Every supporting copy needs it: the PAN copy, the one address proof, and the bank proof. Sign so part of the signature falls on the copy and part on the page, the same anti-tamper logic that ties your photo to the form. A copy without a signature across it is the single most frequent reason an offline file is returned, per Zerodha’s offline-opening guidance. The full physical set is catalogued in the offline document checklist .
3. Assemble the packet
Enclose, in the order the form specifies: the signed application form with the passport-size photograph affixed and signed across; the self-attested PAN copy; one self-attested address proof from the accepted list, a driving licence , voter ID, passport, NREGA job card, NPR letter, or masked Aadhaar; and the self-attested bank proof, a personalised cancelled cheque carrying your printed name or a bank statement showing the account number, bank logo, seal, MICR line, and IFSC. Add one income proof only if you want Futures and Options from the start. Do not enclose loose, unsigned, or partial pages, and do not staple over the photo or signature boxes.
4. Address the packet correctly
Address the envelope to:
Zerodha Customer Support Centre, 192A 4th Floor, Kalyani Vista, 3rd Main Road, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Bengaluru 560076.
This is the customer support centre at pin code 560076. It is not the same as Zerodha’s registered office, which sits at #153/154, 4th Cross, Dollars Colony, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Bengaluru 560078 (Zerodha contact page, as of 20 June 2026). Both are in JP Nagar 4th Phase, which is exactly why the pin code matters: 560076 for documents, 560078 is the registered office. Posting to the registered office can delay or misroute your file. The Bengaluru office address reference keeps both on record, and you should still verify the current address on Zerodha’s support site before posting, since an office address can change.
5. Send by a tracked courier
Use a courier that issues a tracking number. The point is not speed alone; it is proof of delivery. Zerodha’s 72-working-hour activation clock starts only when the packet is received at the support centre, not when you hand it to the courier, so you need to know the exact delivery date to time your follow-up. Keep the tracking reference until the account is open. Build in transit time honestly: a metro-to-Bengaluru courier is usually two to four days, a remote pin code longer, and that transit sits on top of the 72-hour processing window.
6. Track delivery and activation
Once the courier shows delivered, watch for the credential email. Zerodha opens a correct file within 72 working hours of receiving the courier and emails the login credentials for Kite and Console , after which exchange segments enable within one to three working days. Use the account opening time and status tracking references to judge whether a stage is genuinely late before you raise a ticket . The end-to-end timeline, including transit, is set out in the offline processing time reference.
What to enclose, at a glance
| Item | Form | Self-attested |
|---|---|---|
| Application form | Signed, photo affixed and signed across | Not applicable |
| PAN | Photocopy | Yes |
| Address proof (one) | Photocopy, masked Aadhaar if Aadhaar | Yes |
| Bank proof | Personalised cancelled cheque or statement copy | Yes |
| Income proof (F&O only) | One document clearing the threshold | Yes |
Why the email review comes before the courier
The pre-check exists because the courier is the expensive, slow leg. A file that travels to Bengaluru with a blank nominee field, a PAN-name mismatch , or a non-personalised cheque is rejected and must travel again, doubling both cost and the wait. The email step moves that failure to the cheap soft-copy stage. It also lets the team confirm your address proof is acceptable and your bank proof shows every required field before you commit a single rupee to postage.
