Zerodha market timings are the session hours during which Kite clients can trade across NSE, BSE and MCX segments. The timings are set by the exchanges; Zerodha mirrors them with no broker-specific variation. This article is a comprehensive reference card for all segment timings.

Equity (NSE / BSE cash)

No closing session for F&O. Daily MTM settles post-15:30.

For options (no pre-open) and most stock F&O, continuous trading is the only phase.

Currency derivatives session runs longer than equity but starts at 09:00 (vs 09:15 for equity continuous).

Agri commodities trade only during the morning session. Zerodha MCX trading hours has the segment-specific breakdown.

The evening session start-end alignment shifts slightly with international Daylight Saving Time changes.

Mutual fund subscriptions

Mutual fund cut-offs (per AMFI / SEBI):

Coin subscriptions placed before cut-off get same-day NAV; after cut-off, next-day NAV.

Holidays

Markets are closed on declared exchange holidays. See Zerodha holiday list 2026 . Muhurat trading on Diwali is a special evening session.

Special sessions

  • Block deal window: Specific block-deal mechanism with separate timing (typically 08:45 to 09:00 IST).
  • Closing session: 15:40 to 16:00, for “closing price” trades only.
  • Auction session: 14:00 to 15:00 daily for short-delivery resolution; see auction market .

What “trading hours” do not cover

  • Mutual fund settlement (cut-off vs settlement are different).
  • Inter-depository transfers (depository-side timings).
  • Settlement processing (clearing corp timings).
  • Customer support / Zerodha customer care (Zerodha-specific hours).

Outside-session activities

You can still:

  • Log in to Kite outside session hours.
  • Add scrips to marketwatch.
  • Review Console reports.
  • Place orders (they queue for next session).
  • Set GTT / alert orders.

The LTP shown on the marketwatch outside session hours is the previous close (frozen until next session).

Weekend

Markets are closed Saturday and Sunday. Some Zerodha support is available; trading is not possible.

Time zone

All timings are in Indian Standard Time (IST = UTC+05:30). NSE and BSE do not change for any other time zone or DST.
