Muhurat trading time is the special window that the National Stock Exchange and BSE open on Diwali Laxmi Pujan for the Muhurat trading session. For the current session, on Sunday, 8 November 2026, the equity normal market runs from 14:20 to 15:30 IST under NSE circular NSE/CMTR/76941 and BSE notice 20261019-9, both dated 19 October 2026.

This page tracks the current session live and moves to the next session each year at the same address. Its countdown, phase timeline, segment board, calendar, checklist and result panel are drawn from one webnotes.in data file built from the exchange circulars. The meaning of the session, its rules and its history since 2012 are in the Muhurat trading article.

Muhurat trading time, 2026 session

The 2026 Muhurat session runs on Sunday, 8 November 2026, from 13:50 IST, when the block deal window opens, to 16:15 IST, when trade modification closes. Stocks in the closing auction session stop continuous trading at 15:15 IST, and only client codes compliant by 22:00 IST on Saturday, 7 November 2026 can trade (NSE/ISC/77098); the Muhurat trading article sets out both rules.

Muhurat trading time abroad

The 14:20 IST open on 8 November 2026 is 08:50 UTC, which puts the open at midday in Dubai, late afternoon in Singapore, breakfast time in London and before dawn in North America. The UK left summer time on 25 October 2026 and the United States on 1 November 2026, a week before the session.

Readiness checklist

The checklist below follows the 2026 circulars: the Saturday client-code cut-off, the 14:05 IST pre-open, the 15:15 IST closing-auction cut-off and the Tuesday holiday. Ticks stay in the browser that made them, so the list can be worked through over the days before the session.

Ticks are saved only in this browser and are never sent anywhere.

The intraday square-off time is a broker setting that none of the 2026 circulars fixes; the broker’s intraday auto square-off rules apply.

Result of the session

The Nifty 50 and Sensex result of the current session appears below once the NSE daily index close file for the session date is published. In the previous session, on 21 October 2025, the Nifty 50 closed at 25,868.60, up 25.45 points or 0.10%, by the NSE daily index close file for that date, and the Sensex rose 0.07%, by Business Standard Research (5 November 2026).

The Nifty 50 and Sensex result for the 8 November 2026 session is added here from the NSE daily index close file after the session ends. Results of every session since 2012 are in the Muhurat trading history table.

How the Muhurat time is announced

The Muhurat date and the Muhurat time arrive in two separate exchange circulars. The date is in the annual trading holidays circular each December (NSE/CMTR/71775 of 12 December 2025 for 2026); the time is in a Muhurat circular issued two to four weeks before Diwali. Measured from each NSE timing circular to its session, the notice has been:

The day counts are a webnotes.in calculation from the circular dates. A Muhurat time quoted before the circular is out is an estimate, and the session’s window has moved in each of the last three years; every past window and the index result of each session since 2012 are in the Muhurat trading history table.

Frequently asked questions

What time does Muhurat trading start?
In 2026 the Muhurat normal market starts at 14:20 IST on Sunday, 8 November, on NSE and BSE. The block deal window opens earlier, at 13:50, and pre-open order entry at 14:05, under NSE circular NSE/CMTR/76941 and BSE notice 20261019-9, both dated 19 October 2026.
What time does Muhurat trading end?
Continuous trading in equity ends at 15:30 IST on 8 November 2026, or at 15:15 for stocks in the closing auction, whose auction matches from 15:30 to 15:35. Futures and options trade to 15:40. The post-close session runs from 15:50 to 16:00 and trade modification closes at 16:15.
Is Muhurat trading time the same on NSE and BSE?
Yes, for 2026. NSE circular NSE/CMTR/76941 and BSE notice 20261019-9, both of 19 October 2026, set the same block deal window (13:50 to 14:05), pre-open (14:05 to 14:20) and equity continuous trading (14:20 to 15:30) for Sunday, 8 November 2026.
What is the Muhurat trading time in Dubai, London, Singapore and New York?
The 14:20 IST open on 8 November 2026 is 08:50 UTC. That is 12:50 in Dubai, 16:50 in Singapore, 08:50 in London and 03:50 in New York, since UK and US daylight saving have ended by then. The 15:30 IST close is 70 minutes later in each city.
How long is the Muhurat trading session?
The 2026 equity normal market lasts 70 minutes, from 14:20 to 15:30 IST, against 60 minutes in every session from 2021 to 2025. Counting the block deal window at 13:50 and the post-close session ending at 16:00, the exchange is active for 130 minutes.
Why does the Muhurat trading time change?
The exchanges set the time in a fresh circular each year and give no reason in it. Sessions ran 18:15 to 19:15 from 2021 to 2023, 18:00 to 19:00 in 2024, 13:45 to 14:45 in 2025 and 14:20 to 15:30 in 2026, by the NSE circulars for each year.
When is the Muhurat trading time announced?
The date comes first, in the exchange’s annual trading holidays circular each December; the 2026 date was in NSE/CMTR/71775 of 12 December 2025. The timings follow in a separate circular two to four weeks before Diwali: 19 October 2026 for the 8 November 2026 session.
Can orders be placed before Muhurat trading starts?
Orders reach the exchange from 14:05 IST, when pre-open order entry opens on 8 November 2026. Many brokers take after-market orders earlier in the day and send them at the open. Whether a broker does, and its cut-off, is set in that broker’s own Muhurat notice.
What time is the Muhurat trading pre-open session?
The 2026 pre-open runs from 14:05 to 14:20 IST. Order entry runs 14:05 to 14:15, with market orders allowed only to 14:10 and random closure in the last two minutes. The opening price is matched from 14:15 to 14:17, followed by a buffer to 14:20.
What time do IPO and relisted shares trade in the Muhurat session?
Shares in the special pre-open, which covers IPO listings and relisted securities, collect orders from 14:05 to 14:50 IST on 8 November 2026, with random closure in the last 10 minutes, and trade normally from 15:05 to 15:30 IST, per NSE circular NSE/CMTR/76941.
When will the 2027 Muhurat trading time be known?
The 2027 date is expected in the exchanges’ 2027 holiday circular in December 2026, and the timings in a separate circular around October 2027. They will differ from 2026: SEBI circular HO/47/11/11(3)2025-MRD-POD2/I/23843/2026 moves the closing auction to 15:30 to 15:40 IST from 7 December 2026.
